Does your company work in or trade with Argentina and Latin America?

Do you work in the Tango or Latin Dance field?

Are you in travel and accommodation?

If so,  we ask you to consider directly helping, in a small way, the children and destitute families of Argentina as they adjust to and rebuild their lives in the new economy.

At the same time you will get the opportunity to demonstrate your good corporate citizenship, both here and in Argentina.

What we do

Our major event is “Milonga Para Los Ninos” (Dance for the Children), It is organized on a voluntary basis by members of local Argentine Tango communities, mostly Australians and new Zealanders who enjoy the famous Argentine dance and music.

The organisation incorporated in Queensland in 2003 as Sociedad Para Los Niños Inc. The funds since our inaugural year are distributed directly to destitute foster homes and locally based individuals who are doing amazing things with minimal resources to improve the lives of children.

We have provided basic essentials such as staple food, warm clothing and shoes, blankets, light bulbs. We also provided cooking equipment, farm tools and gas reticulation for cooking and heating. One of our adopted partners is a privately run farm for children to keep them away from drugs and prostitution. Another is a foster home that feeds 80 children, who would otherwise go hungry, every weekend. These are simple but great humanitarians whose work would be impossible without support.

We plan in 2009 to rebuild Civil los Honeros, a foster home as part of the first stage to introduce meaningful vocational education and employment to the children of the foster home and the surrounding suburbs.

Since such an event cannot be staged without assistance from companies or individuals such as you, we would ask you to consider making a donation to enable direct costs such as band hire, food, printing and publicity.

The Tango and Latin dance demographic.

The Latin and Tango dance communities in Australia are surprisingly large, with strong bases in every capital city and some regional cities.

We estimate that there are approximately 1,800 people learning Tango every week and a similar number are attending social dances around Australia.  The Latin dance community is much bigger.

The demographic is very much bigger in the US, Canada and Europe. There are small Tango groups throughout South Africa and Asia, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, S. Korea & China.  In fact, a conservative estimate suggests over 61,000 people regularly associate with Tango.  Check out KnowTango.com

As a community, it's people are mobile and socially active.  They are a strong market for the travel and entertainment industries.
